Latest Forum – July 4th – Using data to help optimise how you track climate impacts

Posted on 7/07/25 by Jude Hassall

London’s City Hall was packed for last week’s Climate Costs Forum. The Forum was hosted by the Partnership and was a chance for a wide range of organisations across London and beyond to come together to discuss how they use data to help track their performance and how to better understand and track the impact of extreme weather on organisational performance and assets.

Sounds dry! It really was anything but. The mornings activities included breakout groups where attendees created a poster of a fictional organisation and thought creatively about how data moves through it and the art of the possible for how data could help track impacts. There was lots of sticking, drawing and most importantly sharing experiences and knowledge.

The day was kicked off with an inspirational keynote from the chair of the London Climate Resilience Review, Emma Howard Boyd, who reminded attendees of the need for urgent action to adapt to an increasingly changed and changing climate. Following this our Deputy Chair, Sam Longman, TfL Head of Sustainability and Corporate Environment reiterated the need to fight for change and remain hopeful and focussed on action.

Our event partners Arup will now be taking the learnings from an incredibly fruitful day and producing guidance for all of those looking to understand and improve the way data is used to help make the case for action and investment in climate adaptation. Please do get in touch if you are interested in this work, would like to learn more, or get involved with our new community of practice.
